Why It Matters
Parent Academy™ is the heart of the EMPOWER foundation, the fourth of the four foundations of the MD Vitality Method™.
A therapist might see your child for a few hours. You are there every day. That is an enormous opportunity.
Why
When you know why you are doing something, you can make better decisions at home, on good days and hard ones.
How
You learn how to carry out each part of the programme properly, within what your child's body can comfortably manage.
When
Children grow, and movement patterns, strength and mobility change. You learn to recognise when the programme needs to adapt.
Every day, in real life
Rehabilitation is not only what happens in a session. It is how your child sits, moves and is helped through the day, so we show you how to adjust the everyday things, for example:
Posture
Posture in chairs
Transfers
Our goal is not to make families dependent on therapy appointments. It is to give you the knowledge to carry the right strategies into everyday life.
What You Will Learn
Parent Academy™ is structured education, built so that every step you take at home has a clear reason behind it.
How your child moves today, and what those patterns tell us about how the body is organising itself.
Why some compensation is protective and necessary, and when a pattern may become inefficient through repetition.
How the feet, knees, hips, pelvis, spine and shoulders relate to one another, and why we look at the whole child.
How the nervous system learns movement, and why the quality of repeated movement matters.
How to recognise it, respect it, and pace the day so that more is not mistaken for better.
The balance between stimulation and recovery, including sleep, nutrition and activity intensity.
Connect, Move, Recharge, Empower: how the four foundations work together, so you can see where each piece of the home programme fits.
When parents understand the reasoning, they can make better decisions at home. That is what this education is for.
What You Take Home
The objective is not to turn your child's entire day into therapy. It is to identify the interventions that matter most and build them realistically into your routine.
Adapted to your child's abilities and daily life, not a generic list of exercises.
You are taught how to follow your child's individual home protocol, including appropriate application and safety considerations.
Consistency matters more than occasional intensity. We help you build practical routines around movement, Neuro Reflex work, postural exercises, recovery and nutrition, as appropriate to your programme.
We generally recommend personalised follow-up sessions every 3 to 4 months, to reassess your child and adapt the programme as they change.

Is It for You?
Parent Academy™ is for families who want deeper training. It may be a good fit if:
Not sure? A discovery call will tell you honestly whether it is the right step for your family.
You would rather understand why you are doing something than simply follow a list of instructions.
You want to take part in your child's rehabilitation, not just watch someone else provide it.
You are looking for the interventions that matter most, built into family life without turning every hour into therapy.
Your child will grow and change, and you want to understand how to adapt what you do at home.

Common Questions
Both. It is offered as structured education online, or as hands-on training in Cyprus. On a discovery call we will help you decide which suits your family.
No. It is complementary and works alongside your child's neurologist, endocrinologist and medical team, never instead of them.
No. The aim is to identify the interventions that matter most and build them realistically into family life. Consistency matters more than occasional intensity.
The goal is the opposite. We want you to understand why you are doing something, how to do it safely and when the programme needs to change, so you can act with confidence between sessions. We do generally recommend follow-up every 3 to 4 months, because children change as they grow.
Book a discovery call. We will talk through your child's situation and your family's goals, and explain the format and options that would suit you.
The MD Vitality Method™ is designed as a complementary, evidence-informed rehabilitation approach. It does not cure muscular dystrophy or replace medical treatment. Individual programmes should be adapted to the child's diagnosis, medical status and functional abilities in collaboration with their healthcare team.
